JACKSON, Tenn. – With two golfers in the top 10, SIUE golf finished as the runners up at UT Martin's Grover Page Classic completed Tuesday at the Jackson Country Club.
The Cougars fired a final-round score of 288 and finished at 849 (-15) for the tournament. SIUE finished tied with Missouri State, both finishing eight strokes back of team champion, host UT Martin.
SIUE's 54-hole total of 849 is the sixth lowest in school history.
Luke Ludwig used an even-par round Tuesday to finish tied for fourth at 209 (-7). The fourth-place finish and the 54-hole total are both career bests for Ludwig.
TJ Baker earned his third career top-10 finish, tying for ninth place at 210 (-6).
Two other golfers earned top-25 finishes. Anthony Ruthey finished at 216 (E) to tie for 22nd place while Brady Kaufmann tied for 25th at 217 (+1). Alex Eickhoff finished at 222 to tie for 46th.
The Cougars sent three individuals to the tournament as well. Brent Reintjes tied for 35th at 219. Preston Bily, playing in his first collegiate event, finished tied for 46th at 222. Max Bruening, also playing in his first collegiate event, tied for 73rd at 228.
SIUE returns home to host 15 other schools at the Dolenc Invitational Monday at Tuesday at Gateway National Golf Links.
