EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - SIUE women's tennis started and finished strong this weekend at the SIUE Invite, posting a 25-2 overall record in singles and doubles matches against Lindenwood, Missouri-St. Louis and Southern Indiana.

"This was another positive step forward in our fall season and where we want to go as a team," said SIUE Head Coach Adam Albertsen. "I thought our energy, focus and fight stayed at an extremely high level, and it really showed in how we closed out the final matches."

The matches were played at SIUE Tennis Courts as well as the Edwardsville Y Meyer Center.

Jill Lambrechts, Jordan Schifano and Amelia Gorman led the Cougars by finishing 6-0 in their respective singles and doubles matches. Lambrechts and Gorman both are 6-0 overall in the fall. Gorman is a perfect 12-0 after two tournaments.

Margaux Guibal Britt also improved to 5-0 singles during the fall season. Newcomer Chloe Koons moved to 3-0 in singles play against Ohio Valley Conference members.

The Cougars next head to the Redhawk Invitational at Southeast Missouri this upcoming Friday.
