EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - SIUE wrestling captured four individual wins Sunday but dropped its Mid-American Conference dual match to Central Michigan 22-12 at First Community Arena.

Marcel Lopez, Eric Almarinez, Bradley Gillum and Deron Pulliam each collected victories Sunday for the Cougars.

"We knew it was going to be tough coming into the match," SIUE Head Coach Jeremy Spates said. "There were a lot of matches that we felt were pretty even, and it was just who figured out a way to get it done today."

Lopez bested Andrew Austin 5-2 at 133 pounds. Almarinez edged Jimmy Nugent 8-6 at 141 pounds. Gillum downed Tracy Hubbard 5-3 at 165 pounds. Pulliam got the takedown in overtime to defeat Cody Brenner 4-1 at 184 pounds.

"I always feel like we can get more offense, but we came to wrestle today" added Spates.

The loss ended SIUE's five-match winning streak, the longest streak in the Division I era for the Cougars. It also was senior day as the Cougars honored Ryan Yarnell and Grant LaDuke before the dual.

"Unfortunately, we were hoping to send them out on a winning note," said Spates.

SIUE's next scheduled action is the Greyhound Open in Indianapolis Feb. 4th.
