Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio - SIUE women's tennis lifted its game over the weekend with play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships.
Payton Tomichek finished 2-1 for the weekend in singles. She bested Western Michigan's Frida Weijeman 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 and Toledo's Neha Guru 6-2, 7-6 (7-1).
Chloe Koons picked up a victory in singles, defeating Bradley's Madi Rogers 6-0, 6-1.
Margaux Guibal Britt posted a huge victory over  Michigan State's Oriana Parkins Godwin 6-3, 6-3.
Amelia Gorman, who qualified for the main draw, lost to the No. 3 seed Maria Sholokhova of Wisconsin before defeating DePaul's Hannah Smith 7-5, 6-2. Smith was a first team All-Big East player last season.

Cydney Rogers also picked up a win in doubles during the main draw, topping Western Michigan's Sienna Osborne and Audrey Smitek 8-2.
"I am extremely proud of the way we competed and played some of our better tennis of the fall," said SIUE Head Coach
Adam Albertsen. "Mia played at a high level and picked up a very quality win on day three. Mia and Cydney had a very nice doubles showing. Payton had three strong matches and came away with two victories. Margaux took her game to another level in both matches and came away with a great result. Even some of our losses, I saw improvement and growth which is exciting going into the spring season."
The ITA Regional completed the fall season for the Cougars. SIUE's next action is scheduled for Jan. 18 at home against Illinois Springfield.
