CHICAGO, Ill. – SIUE (1-5, 0-0 OVC) falls to DePaul (3-5, 0-0 Big East) with a final score of 66-42.
The Cougars got the first points in the match off a driving layup from
Molly Sheehan. After this SIUE trailed the Blue Demons for the next seven minutes of the first quarter, before Sheehan made a pair of free throws bringing the game to 4-17.
Macy Silvey made a three-point jumper at the 1:09 marker of the first quarter making the score 7-17.
Halle Smith helped close the Blue Demon's lead in the second quarter off a free throw in at the 4:49.
Before the break the Blue Devils led by eleven points making the score 20-31.
Ava Stoller brought the game down to a seven-point game after the break off a second-chance layup. This was the smallest lead the Blue Demons had during the game.
The Cougars saw a standout performance from
Molly Sheehan who led the team with 11 points and made four out of four shots when shooting from the line.
As a team the Cougars had 22 points in the paint, and 14 points off the bench.
