GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Luke Ludwig tied for 20th to lead SIUE golf at the Loyola Intercollegiate, completed Tuesday at Palm Valley Golf Club. The Cougars shot a 290 Tuesday and finished at five-under for the tournament.
SIUE tied for 11th of 20 teams with an 859. North Dakota State won the team title with an 824, beating the field by 15 strokes. Host Loyola Maryland and Northern Colorado tied for second at 839.
Ludwig shot a 71 Tuesday and finished the tournament four-under par. Brady Kaufmann shot a final-round 70 and finished tied for 26th at 213 (-3). TJ Baker (+2) tied for 57th. Anthony Ruthey tied for 66th at 219 and Alex Eickhoff tied for 96th at 225.
Brent Rientjes, playing as an individual, finished at one-over. He tied for 51st.
North Dakota State's Jake Skarperud shot a 202 (-14) to claim medalist honors. Deleware's Arsit Areephun, NDSU's Nate Adams and Loyola's Michael Crowley all tied for second at 204 (-12).
SIUE will next be at the Bandon Dunes Championships in Bandon, Oregon March 10-12.
