NEW ORLEANS - SIUE women's tennis' depth was apparent Thursday, but the Cougars were upended by New Orleans 4-3.
SIUE dropped to 8-2 and next returns home to face William Woods next Friday in Edwardsville.
"Give New Orleans credit," said SIUE Head Coach
Adam Albertsen, "they played well and were able to win the tight matches."
While New Orleans took the top three singles matches all in three sets, SIUE picked up straight sets singles wins from
Amelia Gorman at No. 4 singles,
Stefaniya Anikina at No. 5 singles and
Fabiola Perez at No. 6 singles.
The Cougars dropped the doubles point to start the match.
"The doubles point did not go our way," said Albertsen. "This ended up being the difference in the match, and it is something we will focus in on."
