PADUCAH, Ky. – SIUE golf will play in the championship round of the Carpenter/Chaney Classic match play event after winning two rounds Monday.

The Cougars defeated Eastern Illinois in the quarterfinal round 5-1-0 and then defeated Lindenwood in the semifinal round 3-2-1.

SIUE will take on Morehead State in Tuesday's championship round. Morehead State defeated Southern Indiana in the quarterfinal round 5-1-0. The Eagles defeated UT Martin 3-2-0 in the semifinals.

Brady Kaufmann and Anthony Ruthey won both of their matches during the day. Brent Reintjes won his quarterfinal match against Eastern Illinois and drew in his semifinal match against Lindenwood. TJ Baker, Alex Eickhoff and Luke Ludwig all split during the day.

UT Martin will meet Lindenwood in the third-place match. Southern Indiana and Tennessee Tech will meet for fifth place. Tennessee State and Eastern Illinois will play for seventh place.
