Cougars Entertain Golden Eagles Saturday at First Community Arena

  • The Cougars are coming off a 60-57 win at Eastern Illinois Tuesday and have won three straight games.
  • Ring Malith collected his third double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds at EIU.
  • SIUE is allowing just 65.7 points per game, which is the best in the OVC, and ranked 43rd nationally.
  • The Cougars have held their last three opponents to an average of 57 points.
  • Last Saturday, SIUE held Lindenwood to just 18 second-half points.
  • Brian Barone is in his sixth season as Head Coach. He has a career record of 74-97 at SIUE.
  • Ray'Sean Taylor is SIUE's Division I scoring leader with 1,595 career points (3rd all-time at SIUE).
  • Taylor was named OVC Player of the Week twice this season. 
  • He is second in scoring in the OVC at 17.6 points per game.
  • The win over Eureka was the first time SIUE hit the 100-point mark since December 2014.
  • The Cougars knocked down a school-record 17 three-pointers against the Red Devils. 
  • Ray'Sean Taylor hit six three-pointers and scored 18 points-all in the first half. 
  • Freshman Cham Okey recorded his first career double-double against Eureka with 11 points and 11 rebounds. He was named OVC Freshman of the Week Dec. 16.
  • Maltih grabbed an SIUE Division I-record 19 rebounds against St. Ambrose Nov. 23. It was the most rebounds in a game since Anthony Smith's 18 in January 1994.
  • Malith is the rebounding leader at 6.6 boards per game, which is eighth in the OVC.
