SIUE Softball Announces Four Commitments

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE softball Head Coach Ben Sorden and his staff announced the addition of four newcomers to the program Wednesday.

The newest SIUE Cougars are Alayna Adamez (Cottage Grove, Minnesota), Kansas Craig (Anna, Illinois), Jordan Roth (Stevens Point, Wisconsin), and Haydn Voss (Joliet, Illinois)

Sorden said all four players not only provide depth for the future but continue to have great pre-college careers and accolades.

Below is a sketch of each signee.

Alayna Adamez

Hometown: Cottage Grove, Minnesota
High School: Park
Position: Catcher
Bats/Throws: Right/Right
Club Team: Minnesota Magic

Projected Major at SIUE: Criminal Justice

Coach Sorden on Alayna: "We are excited Alayna chose to be a Cougar. A highly-rated catcher, she provides power at the plate and the arm to shut down our opponent's running game. Reuniting with her former club ball teammate, Hailey Strain, should be a fun battery to watch together for years to come." 

Accolades: Starting catcher for three seasons at Park High School where her teams have place third and second twice in 3AAAA Section … Extra Innings Softball Extra Elite 100 nationally ranked catcher (No. 36) … Extra Innings Softball Class of 2026 Midwest Second Team honoree … Four-sport student-athlete in softball, hockey, tennis and flag football … Won 2024 Showtime Sports Home Run Derby … USSSA All-American and Select 30 Invite … Earned national Hitter of the Week honor in 2024 … Team captain and honorable mention All-Conference in hockey, where she earned five letters … Named Quarterback of the Year in flag football … National Honor Society … 2025-26 NFL Latino Youth Honors Minnesota Vikings Female Nominee … Helped Minnesota Magic to 2025 18U USSSA Elite Select World Fastpitch Championship … 2024 and 2025 USSSA Open Metro Top Tier State Runner-Up … 14U Northern NAFA Champions in 2022 … Her father, Daniel, played baseball at St. Thomas … Her brother, Lucas, played football at Wisconsin-Platteville.

Coach Sorden on Kansas: "I have enjoyed watching Kansas' game develop over the past couple years; we are eager to get her in a Cougar uniform. She is truly a special athlete, and her offense will make an immediate impact. We are thrilled she will be a part of our program."

Accolades: Three-time All-State selection at Anna Jonesboro … Southern Illinois Softball Player of the Year … Tied for 12th nationally and led state of Illinois in home runs as a junior with 24 … Three-time All-Conference pick … As a junior, led state in runs scored (84), second in state in RBIs (65), third in state in slugging percentage (1.623), and eighth statewide in batting average (.679) … Class President as a junior and a senior … National Honor Society President … Three-sport standout at Jonesboro in volleyball, basketball and softball ... Coach Sorden on Jordan: "Jordan is a natural born chaos creator. Her speed game on the bases coupled with her defensive tenacity make her a fun player to watch. We look forward to her zooming around the bases for the Cougars."

Accolades: Two-time second team All-State pick … Two-time first team All-Conference selection … Spash Polito Hustle Award … Led Wisconsin Valley Conference her junior season in runs scored and stolen bases … Led WVC as a sophomore in walks drawn … National Honor Society … Scholar-Athlete Award winner three times at Stevens Point Area … Her mom, Kelly, played collegiate soccer at Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Coach Sorden on Haydn: "Haydn is a gifted athlete and her versatility allows her to compete anywhere on the field. She sports good power at the plate and has unbelievable upside potential. Her natural athleticism and grit will strengthen our team." 

Accolades: Batted .570 as a junior with a .917 slugging percentage … Second team All-Area selection … Three-time All-Conference pick … SPC East Division Conference Most Valuable Player … Named Joliet Central's Athlete of the Year … Batted .455 as a sophomore and earned second All-Conference honor … National Honor Society … High Honor Roll every semester since freshman year … PGF National Berth Winner for New Lenox Lightning … LP4U Queen of the Hill 18U champions … Battle of the Borders runner-up … Earned bid to PGF national qualifier … Offensive MVP in summer of 2023.
