EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Caleb Tyus became SIUE's first wrestler to win the Cougar Clash twice Sunday with the 149-pound title at First Community Arena.

Also a champion in 2022, Tyus defeated Oklahoma State's Casey Swiderski, a returning All-American, 8-1 in the championship match. It was a battle of nationally-ranked wrestlers. Coming into the event, FloWrestling ranked Swiderski 11^th and Tyus 18^th.

Tyus' victory was just the third time an SIUE wrestler has won a title at the Cougar Clash. With Tyus doing it twice, the only other winner was Colton McKiernan in 2022.

SIUE finished fifth in a strong field at the Cougar Clash with 127.5 points. The Cougar Clash team title went to Northern Iowa, which edged out Oklahoma State 190-187. Illinois placed third with 157 points followed by Missouri (135), SIUE (127.5), Brown (92.5), Northern Colorado (49) and Little Rock (35.5).
