DALLAS – Dallas Baptist completed the three-game sweep of SIUE with a 10-2 win Sunday afternoon.
The Cougars dropped to 2-4. Dallas Baptist is 5-1.
Ryan Niedzwiedz homered and finished with a pair of hits and Kyle Ratliff had two hits to lead the Cougars.
Niezwiedz homered with two outs in the first to get the scoring started. It was 3-1 DBU in the fourth when the Cougars got on the board a second time. Niedzwiedz doubled to start the inning and was sacrificed to third base. He scored on a sacrifice fly by Michael Siemer.
Patriots' catcher Jay Grant hit a grand slam in the bottom of the inning to stretch the lead to 7-2. DBU scored three more in the fifth for the 10-2 final.
Joshua Heyder had the only other Cougar hit, picking up a pinch hit in the ninth.
Brady Coon (0-1) started and worked three innings for the Cougars. He allowed three runs on four hits.
Tyler Davis and Kieran Bailey combined to finish the game with 3 1/3 scoreless innings.
The Cougars will open the home season Tuesday afternoon at Roy E. Lee Field when they face Saint Louis at 3 p.m.
