SAINT LOUIS - Five singles matches went to the third set Friday as Saint Louis edged SIUE women's tennis 4-2 at the Missouri Athletic Club.
SIUE's five-match winning streak came to an end as the Billikens won three singles matches after topping the Cougars in doubles play. SIUE is now 7-2 overall while the Billikens improved to 2-6.
The Cougars return to action Saturday afternoon with a 2:30 match against William Woods at the Edwardsville Y Meyer Center.
Paige Duncan and
Stefaniya Anikina earned three-set victories for SIUE. Duncan stormed back from a set down for her victory, winning 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Anikina and Aryn Walker split the first two sets before Anikina dominated the third set. She ran her season record to 6-0 with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 victory.
