• The Cougars sit atop the Ohio Valley Conference standings with a 6-0 record. Southeast Missouri and Eastern Illinois are tied for second place after two weeks of league play with a 5-1 record.
• SIUE has won 10 of its last 11 games. SIUE swept its second straight OVC series with a three-game sweep over Tennessee Tech. This is the fastest start to the OVC season in school history at 6-0 The previous best was 4-0 in 2014 and 2018.
• In the Tennessee Tech finale, SIUE defeated the Golden Eagles 10-9 in 14 innings when Lauryn Yslava scored on a sacrifice fly starting from second base on a deep fly ball to right field from Emma Henderson..
• Yslava was named the OVC Player of the Week after hitting .440 with eight RBIs and three stolen bases. Six of her 11 hits for the week went for extra bases, including a game-tying two-run double in the 14th inning last Sunday.
• Kiana Villa was named the Prairie Farms Athlete of the Week. She is 4-0 this season in the circle with a team-leading 3.23 earned run average.
• SIUE leads the OVC in several statistical categories, including doubles (36), home runs (23), home runs per game (0.92), runs scored (140), and sacrifice flies (9).
• Yslava is fifth nationally in doubles per game (0.44). With her five last week, Yslava now has 11 for the season.
• Juztyne Torres is 16th nationally in assists per game (2.65). She has played both the second base and shortstop positions in 2025.
• Avery Arwood is second in the OVC in complete games with six. She also is third in the league in shutouts.


Next Up: SIUE travels to face Saint Louis for a midweek nonconference matchup Wednesday. The Cougars return home next weekend to face Lindenwood for a three-game home series at Cougar Field.
