ST. LOUIS – Three singles matches went to three sets Friday as Southeast Missouri edged the SIUE women's tennis team 4-3 in the semifinals of the 2025 Ohio Valley Conference Championships.
The Cougars closes out the season with a 14-7 record overall. Southeast Missouri, 15-9, advances to the championship match Saturday against the winner of the Bryant/Western Illinois match.
SIUE won the doubles point and grabbed the momentum heading into singles.
All-OVC selections Amelia Gorman and Stefaniya Anikina each won their singles matches. Gorman, the OVC Player of the Year, dispatched Lera Valeeva at No. 1 singles 7-5, 6-4. Anikina earned a three-set win 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 over Maja Bajorek at No. 4 singles.
SEMO collected four singles wins, including a pair of three-set wins. Juliette Demunck defeated SIUE's Payton Tomichek 4-6, 6-1, 6-1. Yontha Tadoum topped Margaux Guibal Britt 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (9-7).
