CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – SIUE golf came up two strokes shy of a fourth straight trip to the Ohio Valley Conference match play final.
The Cougars finished stroke play in fifth place at 872 (+8). Morehead State finished at 870 (+6) for the fourth and final spot in the match play final Wednesday. The Eagles will face Little Rock, which finished atop the standings at 847 (-17), in one semifinal. Second place Lindenwood (-10) and third place UT Martin (-6) will meet in the second semifinal.
Alex Eickhoff led the Cougars, earning 10th place finish at one-under. It is his fourth top 10 finish this season. Brady Kaufmann finished at even par, landing in a tie for 12th place.
Brent Reintjes tied for 23rd at four-over. Will Simpson tied for 30th at seven-over. Parker Bruening was substituted in for Tuesday's final round and was four-over for the day.
The Cougars finished the year with four team titles for the first time in school history and earned a head-to-head record of 24-7.
