EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE men's basketball Head Coach Brian Barone has begun adding to his team ahead of the 2025-26 season, announcing the addition of transfer guard Jack Campion (Milton, Wisconsin).
Campion comes to SIUE from fellow Ohio Valley Conference member Southern Indiana where he appeared in 88 games making 55 starts over the last three seasons.
"I couldn't be more excited to welcome Jack Campion to our program," Barone said. "He is a proven player that has produced in the OVC. I have always had a ton of respect for Jack. His toughness, character, and playmaking ability will instantly fit into our championship culture"
"I chose SIUE because it felt like family, more than anything," Campion said. "I felt a strong connection with Coach Barone and the whole coaching staff throughout my recruiting process. The culture here at SIUE is special. For my last year, I wanted a place that I could come, and impact winning and play to my full potential."
In 28 games last season, Campion ranked third in the OVC in assists at 4.3 pre contest. His 120 assists ranked fourth most in the league. Campion has 3.4 assists per game in three seasons at USI and has averaged nearly 100 assists per season. He also averaged 5.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in 2024-25.
"My experience and familiarity with the OVC and playing three years in the league comes to my advantage," Campion added. "Not many coaches know my game better than Coach Barone after coaching against me for three years. With (SIUE) just making the NCAA tournament and the staff believing in me to come in and be a key piece to try to win the OVC again is special."
Campion enjoyed one of his best games of the season last year against SIUE, scoring 12 points while adding eight assists and five rebounds in 35 minutes Feb. 22 at USI.
"Our entire staff has respected him from afar, and now we can't wait to work with him daily on our journey to chasing another OVC Championship," Barone added. "Anytime we can add proven experience to our roster and FAWFAM culture, I would consider it positive for our team."
SIUE is coming off the program's first Ohio Valley Conference championship and appearance in the NCAA men's basketball tournament. The Cougars finished the year at 22-12, marking the most wins in a single season at the Division I level.
