SIUE dropped its first Ohio Valley Conference event last Saturday with a 4-3 loss at Western Illinois.

LAST MEETING VS. SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
SIUE and Southeast Missouri split matches last season. The Redhawks were 6-1 winners in Cape Girardeau. SIUE returned with a 4-1 win in the championship match of the 2024 OVC Championships in St. Louis.

OVC HONORS
Amelia Gorman and Stefaniya Anikina were honored for last week's action against Western Illinois. Gorman, the No. 1 singles player for the Cougars, was tabbed the OVC Player of the Week. Gorman and Anikina also were selected as the co-OVC Doubles Team of the Week. It was Gorman's fifth OVC Player of the Week pick. This also is Gorman's seventh doubles honor of the season and Anikina's fifth. This marks the third time this season they have earned the honor together and twice in a row.

COUGAR LEADERS

• Gorman needs one more singles victory to hit 20. It would be her third straight season of 20 or more singles wins. She passed Monique Krutak (2012-16) for No. 5 on the Division I era singles list.
• Chloe Koons and Payton Tomichek are next on the singles wins list this season with 16.
• Anikina is 10-0 in singles matches played at No. 5 and No. 6 this season. She also is 12-0 in doubles matches, having competed this season with Gorman and Margaux Guibal Britt.
• The Cougars are 46-16 in doubles matches (.742 winning percentage). That includes a 29-9 doubles record in dual matches (.763 winning percentage).
