Edwardsville, IL —SIUE Athletics proudly recognizes Nathan & Alison Novsek, new supporters of the Cougars Champions Fund (CCF). As new CCF members, Nathan & Alison have bought into the vision for SIUE Athletics and are entering their first year as donors and basketball season ticket holders.
As lifelong basketball fans, Nathan and Alison have always valued the student-athlete experience. This is reflected through their philanthropy that has already impacted more than 300+ SIUE student-athletes as well as Nathan's service as a former varsity basketball coach and current PE teacher at Worden and Woodland Elementary. They reside in Edwardsville with their two children, and they are excited to cheer on the Cougars this season.
Hear from the Novsek Family:
Q: What inspired you to begin supporting the CCF?
"We are amazed at the transformation this athletic administration and your coaches have done for the university and your student athletes. With the upgrades to the facilities, community involvement, and constantly looking for ways to improve, you've made SIUE an incredible place to be for your athletes and fans. The atmosphere and culture you've created is something you should be very proud of. Thank you!"
Q: Is there a particular moment that deepened your connection to SIUE Athletics?
"There are a couple moments that stand out to us that deepened our connection. Being a lifelong basketball fan, player, and now coach, we were excited to check out some Cougar basketball after living in Texas for 10 years. It was our first time back at the arena since 2011. The upgrades you've made, Eddieville, and the overall atmosphere is wonderful. We are truly amazed at what you've done. Now we are proud season ticket holders and excited for the upcoming season!
Another moment was the coach's show at Global Brew. Getting to know the coaches, hearing the players talk to Joe, and meeting other fans like us was a fun experience. We love talking basketball and meeting people so attending the coaches shows really made us feel a part of SIUE basketball.
Lastly, the trip to Wichita! I took off work and headed to Kansas. After being a part of SIUE basketball all season, I had to be there. It was something I never dreamed I would see, SIUE in the dance. I know it didn't go as well as we wanted but being OVC champs and making it to the tourney was incredible. What a great experience at the team hotel and in Wichita. I hope future players get a taste."
Q: Is there a message you would share with student-athletes benefiting from your support?
"You've chosen a wonderful place to be. Soak it up and enjoy your time here because it will fly by. Just know you are supported by the community, and we are glad you are here!"
Q: If you had 30 seconds to tell someone why they should support SIUE Athletics, what would you say?
"Come to a home Cougar game and check out the atmosphere for yourself. Great for the die-hards, families, or anyone looking for something to do on Thursday night or Saturday afternoon!"
