LAST WEEK: SIUE fell 2-1 at home to Loyola on Thursday. 

THIS WEEK: The Cougars play just their second two-game week of the season with Kansas City at home Wednesday and Omaha on the road Sunday. 

HOME COOKING: The Cougars play two of the next three matches at home. SIUE has successfully defended its home turf in recent seasons. Including two losses this season, the Cougars are 17-3-2 at Korte Stadium since the start of the 2023 season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Evan Howard scored in each of SIUE's games in Colorado and was named as the OVC Player of the Week 9/2.

RANK AND FILE: SIUE has faced two ranked opponents so far this season, dropping 2-1 games on the road at No. 21 Denver and No. 16 Saint Louis.

THE SERIES: Tonight marks the13th meeting between SIUE and Kansas City in men's soccer and the eighth since both schools moved to NCAA Division I status. SIUE leads 6-5-1 in the series overall and 4-3-1 at the Division I level. All of SIUE's wins have been one-goal wins. This is the first meeing in Edwardsville since 2021.

SCORING: Evan Howard is tied for the lead in the OVC with four goals. He's scored a goal in four consecutive games. SIUE lost its seven top scorers and eight of the top 10 after last season. The Cougars opened the season with just four goal scorers from a season ago representing six of 30 goals (20 percent) scored in 2024. Returners account for just 18 percent (15 of 85) of total points scored in 2024.

GOT 'EM CORNERED: SIUE leads the OVC and ranks 51st in the NCAA in corner kicks per game at 5.60.

AT THE HELM: Two-time OVC Coach of the Year Cale Wassermann is in his seventh season in charge of the Cougars, and his 12th overall as a head coach. He has a record of 53-39-14 (.566) in six full seasons at SIUE. He is third all-time in wins at SIUE.
