EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE wrestling heads to Athens, Ohio, to meet Mid-American Conference rival Ohio in a 6 p.m. CT matchup Friday.
The Cougars hold an impressive 7-1 overall dual match record with a 1-0 mark in conference action. Ohio is coming off a busy weekend at the NWCA National Duals where it ran its record to 6-4 overall and 1-0 in the MAC.
Three SIUE wrestlers continue to be nationally-ranked heading into the weekend. Caleb Tyus, at 149 pounds, is ranked No. 3 nationally. Marcel Lopez, at 133 pounds, is ranked as high as 17th by Openmat. Brock Woodcock, at 165 pounds, is tabbed at 22nd nationally by Wrestlestat.
Ohio's top-ranked wrestler in the December MAC rankings is 184-pounder Sal Perrine, who is tabbed second in the 12-team league.
SIUE has won two out of the last three meetings against the Bobcats, both of which were at First Community Arena in Edwardsville.
