BRENTWOOS, Tenn. – SIUE women's tennis swept the first week of play and earned Ohio Valley Conference honors for singles and doubles.

Elena Palioura was named the OVC Singles Player of the Week. Margaux Guibal Britt and Cydney Rogers were selected as the OVC Doubles Team of the Week.

Paliouri, a sophomore from Thessaloniki, Greece, was 2-0 for the week with No. 2 singles victories over Illinois-Springfield's Cristina Mendoza Romero 6-1, 6-0 and Valparaiso's Lacey Tanner 6-1, 6-3.

Guibal Britt, a senior from Rossville, Tennessee, and Rogers, a senior from Jonesboro, Arkansas, teamed up at No. 2 doubles for wins over Illinois-Springfield's Maria Garcia Gama/Cristina Mendoza Romero 6-0 and Valparaiso's  Andrea Delgado/Brynn Steven 6-2.

SIUE is 2-0 this season.
