EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – With impending weather adjusting SIUE wrestling's Mid-American Conference match against Kent State to Saturday at 4:30 p.m., the Cougars will celebrate Senior Day at First Community Arena.
Sunday's match against Central Michigan also has been postponed due to the weather. It has been rescheduled for First Community Arena on Feb. 6 at 6 p.m.
Eric Almarinez, Davian Guanajuato, Ben Lunn, Deron Pulliam, Hayden Shepherd, Hayden Trezek and Caleb Tyus will be honored Saturday.
SIUE, which received votes in this week's NWCA Coaches Top 25 poll, enters Saturday's dual with an 8-1 record overall and a 2-0 mark in the MAC. The Cougars are atop the West Division. Kent State enters the match with a 2-9 dual match record and a 1-2 record in the MAC. Kent State has a MAC dual Friday evening at Northern Illinois.
Kent State's top wrestlers are 197-pounder Blake Schaffer, tabbed fourth in the January MAC rankings and heavyweight Brentan Simmerman, who is ranked third in the January rankings.
SIUE's Marcel Lopez (133), Caleb Tyus (149) and Brock Woodcock (165) all are ranked No. 1 in the January MAC rankings.
