EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE wrestling challenges Buffalo Friday in a 5 p.m. CT contest on the road.
With two weeks left in the regular season, is one win behind Northern Illinois for first place in the Mid-American Conference West Division. SIUE and Northern Illinois are slated to meet in DeKalb next week.
The Cougars, 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the MAC, enters the final two weeks of the regular season with four wrestlers ranked in the top 33 in the NCAA Division I Coaches Rankings, which factors in winning percentage, opponent winning percentage and opponent's strength of schedule.
Caleb Tyus, of Bethalto, Illinois, is ranked No. 3 in the nation at 133 pounds and holds an 18-1 record overall.
Marcel Lopez, of New London, Iowa, ranks 20th nationally at 133 pounds. Brock Woodcock, of St. Clair, Missouri, ranks 24th at 165 pounds. Bryson Buhk, of DeKalb, Illinois, ranks 30th at 285 pounds.
Buffalo's Kaleb Burgess is ranked 29th nationally at 157 pounds. Buffalo, as a team, is 3-10 overall and 2-4 in the MAC.
