EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE wrestling's match 7 p.m. Friday in DeKalb is important for a couple of reasons.
It's the final regular season matchup for both SIUE and Northern Illinois before all head to the Mid–American Conference Championships March 6–7 in Buffalo, New York. The matchup also will determine the MAC West Division title as both teams hold a 4–1 record in league action.
SIUE enters the dual with a 10–2 overall while Northern Illinois holds a 9–6 record.
The Cougars have four wrestlers nationally ranked in the coaches' second ranking. Caleb Tyus is third at 149 pounds. Marcel Lopez is 20th at 133 pounds. Brock Woodcock is 24th at 165 pounds. Bryson Buhk is 30th at 285 pounds.
The Huskies have three wrestlers ranked nationally. Blake West is 29th at 125 pounds. Markel Baker is 28th at 133 pounds. Devon Dawson is 21st at 285 pounds.
