INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - SIUE's Donavon Allen won the 149-pound weight class Sunday at the Greyhound Open.

Allen was among 12 SIUE wrestlers who finished in the top eight.

Other top finishers at the tournament were Davian Guanajuato (3rd/125), Ben Lunn (3rd/141), Alec Peralta (6th/141), PJ Murphy (7th/157), Gage Murphy (3rd/165), Landen Johnson (8th/165), Caleb Neal (4th/174), Hayden Trezek (2nd/174), Amare Overton (4th/184), Nico Ronchetti (3rd/184), and Jake Fernandez (7th/285).

Allen's championship match was an 8-2 decision over Charlie Fifield, an unattached wrestler from Illinois. Allen recorded two technical falls and two major decisions en route to his tournament win.

SIUE's schedule next features a Mid-American Conference dual match at Buffalo this Friday.
