2025-26 TEAM NOTES
  • SIUE claimed the No. 7 spot for the OVC tournament after a 70-43 win over Eastern Illinois (Feb. 28). 
  • The Cougars defeated UT Martin 63-49 to advance to the quarterfinal round against No. 3 Southern Indiana. 
  • USI defeated SIUE twice in the regular season on Jan. 1 (70-55) and Jan. 31 (67-46).
  • When playing at home the Cougars are 15-13 overall and 11-19 at USI. 
  • SIUE has made eight appearances at the OVC tournament going 7-8. 
  • They were last seen at the tournament during the 2023 season where they beat Tennessee State (71-64) and were knocked out by Tennessee Tech (76-62). 
  • Against UT Martin (Feb. 14), four Cougars scored in double figure: Mohamed (13), Miller (13), Proctor (12) and Kendal George (12). 
  • The win over UT Martin was game two of a four game win streak that ended at Tennessee State on Feb. 21.
  • During the 2017-18 season the Cougars had three instances where they went on a four game win streak against conference opponents. 
  • SIUE had its first OVC win of the season after a double-overtime battle with EIU (Dec. 19). 
  • This game marked the team's first double-overtime win since the 2006-07 season, when the Cougars defeated Southern Indiana 81-75.
  • The Cougars are 30-16 all-time in overtime games. 
  • Seven of those contests have gone to double overtime, with the Cougars winning five. 
  • The Cougars grabbed a DI era record 60 rebounds, including 25 offensive boards at TSU (Feb. 21). 
  • Earlier this season SIUE led by 29 at halftime against TSU (Jan. 22), its largest halftime lead since moving to DI in 2008.
  • The last time the Cougars held a 25+ point halftime lead was in 2011 vs. Jacksonville State (27 points). 
  • Five Cougars scored in double figures against the Redhawks: Kiyoko Proctor (18), Lauren Miller (15), Syanne Mohamed (12), Macy Silvey (12), Ava Gugliuzza (10). 
  • This was the first time five Cougars have been in double figures for a single game since the 2021 season when they played Western Illinois Dec. 7. 
  • Assistant coach Liz Doran served as the acting head coach against Southern Indiana (Jan.1) and Morehead State (Jan. 3) while head coach Sam Quigley-Smith welcomed her fifth child, Louis "Louie" Smith. 
  • The team is averaging 38.4 rebounds and has a +5.1 margin which is second in the OVC and 61st in the NCAA.
  • The Cougars are third in the OVC in defensive rebounds per game (26.4). 
  • They are second in the OVC for scoring defense (59.5), placing 67th nationally. 
  • SIUE is second in three-point attempts per game (22.2) and third in three-pointers per game (7.0).
  • They had 52 rebounds in the win over Harris-Stowe.
  • The win marked just the third time in program history SIUE has recorded a margin of victory of 47 points.
  • The 27 point win over EIU (Feb. 21) is the fourth largest margin of victory against a conference opponent. 
  • The Cougars closed out the nonconference schedule with a 7-3 record, their best start in the past 12 seasons. 
  • The Cougars held Calumet College to seven points in the first half of the game on Dec. 4. 
  • They also had a season-high 16 steals against the Crimson Wave. 
  • The Cougars had a season high 96 points against Missouri Baptist (Nov. 3).
  • SIUE had a single game high field goal percentage of .521 (25-48)against Tennessee Tech (Jan. 24).
