ST. LOUIS, Mo. – SIUE women's tennis defeated Lindenwood 4-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference Championships semifinals Saturday and will play for the title Sunday at noon.
SIUE, 15-2, will play third-seeded Bryant in the championship match. Bryant advanced with a 4-1 win over second-seeded Southeast Missouri.
After winning the doubles point, SIUE won a trio of straight sets victories in singles.
Senior Cydney Rogers got the Cougars started at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Mathilde Humbert. Paloma Hennicaux made it 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles over Sofija Dunisijevic. Elena Palioura, a first team All-OVC pick, closed out Lindenwood with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles over Michelle Trochez.
