Cougars Finish Season at OVC Championship

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – SIUE golf concluded its 2025-26 season with a seventh-place finish at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship. Stroke play concluded at Purdue's Ackerman-Allen Course with the end of round two, which was suspended Monday due to weather. Teams then completed round three.

Little Rock, UT Martin, Tennessee Tech and Bryant will compete Wednesday in match play for the OVC title.

The Cougars finished at 895, 10 strokes back of Bryant for the final match play spot.

Preston Bily paced the Cougars with a 220 (+7) to tie for 13th place. He finished the season with a career-low 72.97 scoring average.

Brady Kaufmann, Brent Reintjes and Will Simpson played their final rounds as Cougars,

Kaufmann finished the championship at 223 (+10) to tie for 24th.  His season average of 71.82 is just behind his career low of 71.80, set in 2023-24, and is the fourth-lowest round in a season at SIUE. His career scoring average of 72.02 is the lowest in school history. Including match play rounds, he played 132 career rounds, the second most in school history.

Reintjes tied for 27th at the championship with a 224. He finished the season with a scoring average of 73.37, the lowest of his career. He played 83 career rounds over four seasons and his career average of 73.80 is the fifth lowest at SIUE.

Simpson finished the championship at 230 to tie for 40th. He finished the year with a 72.67 scoring average. He played 62 career rounds for the Cougars over two seasons after transferring from Troy. His career scoring average of 73.19 is third best at SIUE.

Tomas Rascon played the first two rounds of the championship carding rounds of 75-76. Max Buening played the final round Tuesday, shooting a 78.

Little Rock's Mark Stockdale earned medalist honors after a 54-hole total of 200 (-13).

The Cougars finished the year with a scoring average of 289.21, the second lowest season average in school history.
