PEORIA, Ill. – SIUE softball dropped its second straight game at the 2026 Ohio Valley Conference Championships and has exited the tournament after a 13-5 loss to fourth-seeded Lindenwood.
The Cougars finished the season with a 29-29 record.
SIUE's offense collected seven hits against the Lions.
The Cougars made some noise in the third inning with a three-run rally. After falling behind 3-0, SIUE rallied to tie the game on an RBI single by Raegan Duncan and a two-RBI single from Gretchen Trello.
Lindenwood's big blow came from a five-run fifth inning. The Lions would add two runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh.
SIUE launched its comeback in the bottom of the sixth with two runs. Jesslyn Stairs doubled home Betsy Woodward and then moved to third on an outfield error by the Lions. Stairs would later score on a sacrifice fly by Aidyn Barrera.
Mia Volpert took the loss for the Cougars and is 7-10 in the circle. Ava Risum was credited with the win for Lindenwood and is now 3-5.
