KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City's Raphael Kistmann scored twice as the Roos downed SIUE 5-0 Thursday in the 2026 season opener for both teams.
The 25th-ranked Roos wasted little time getting on the board, scoring the first goal of the night in the 10th minute of play. Kansas City added another before halftime to lead 2-0 at the break.
Second-half goals in the 57th, 76th and 82nd minutes in the second half sealed the game for the Roos.
Kansas City outshot SIUE 23-8 in the game including 12 shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper Louis Krueger made seven saves for the Cougars.
Colin Bastianoni, Mathias Clausen and Ryley Gibbs each finished with a pair of shots for SIUE. Bastianoni had the only shot on goal for SIUE. Juan Rodas and Grant Locker each had a single shot.
The Cougars will look to bounce back Thursday as they remain on the road to face Michigan State in East Lansing, Michigan.
