EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE men's basketball head coach Brian Barone has added veteran coach Edwind McGhee to his staff ahead of the 2026-27 season.
McGhee joins the Cougars after two seasons as the head coach at Division III North Park University in Chicago, Illinois. In two seasons leading the Vikings, McGhee guided the program to consecutive top-four finishes in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW), the first back-to-back winning seasons since 2016–17, and the program's first consecutive CCIW Tournament appearances.
"We are excited to add Edwind McGhee to our program," Barone said. "Edwind is a proven leader who understands what it takes to build a program the right way. He has a wealth of coaching experience at several different programs and most recently as the head coach at North Park. His coaching history combined with his four years of playing experience at DePaul, have given him a valuable perspective on developing players on and off the court. He will invest in our players and embrace the Find A Way mentality that makes SIUE Basketball special."
Prior to becoming head coach, McGhee spent two seasons as North Park's Associate Head Coach, helping lead the Vikings to the 2023 CCIW Tournament Championship, a NCAA Division III Sweet Sixteen appearance, and the program's first 24-win season in nearly 40 years.

McGhee spent four seasons at Lincoln College (NAIA) as an assistant and head coach.
The two-time graduate of DePaul began his coaching career at his alma mater.
McGhee played in 69 career games over four seasons for the Blue Demons. He was a four-time Big East All-Academic team selection. He earned his bachelor's degree in 2014 before obtaining his master's from DePaul in 2016.
