CHICAGO – Loyola-Chicago's Arved von Vegesack found the back of the net in the 89th minute, snapping a scoreless tie and sending the Ramblers to 1-0 win over SIUE men's soccer Thursday night.
The Cougars fell to 1-4. Loyola remained unbeaten at 5-0-2. SIUE fell to 0-6 all-time at Loyola.
Amos Boum Nlend and Mathias Clausen paced the Cougars with three total shots each. They both finished with a shot on goal. SIUE finished with a season-high 14 shots. The Cougars put six shots on goal compared to just three for the Ramblers.
Max Ionita made six saves for the shutout in goal for Loyola. Ioannis Koupepides made a pair of saves for SIUE.
The Cougars return home to begin a four-game home stand with Bradley on Wednesday. Kickoff is 6 p.m. at Korte Stadium.
