MADISON, Ill. – SIUE golf overtook a pair of teams to finish second at its home tournament the Dolenc Invitational, completed Tuesday at Gateway National Golf Links.
It marks the 12th time in 16 home tournaments that SIUE has recorded at least a top-three finish.
The Cougars finished at 839 (-13), which is the seventh lowest 54-hole total in school history. SIUE was just two shots back of team champion Bradley. UT Martin finished at 11-under to take third place.
Preston Bily came within a stroke of his best 54-hole total, finishing at 205 (-8) to take third place overall.
Tomas Rascon did turn his best 54-hole total, carding a 209 (-4) to finish tied for 12th.
Trey Boecker tied for 15th with a 210 (-3). Max Bruening tied for 37th at 215 (+2) and Rajan Roth tied for 68th at 223.
Four individuals competed for SIUE as well. Jake Guse tied for 37th at 215. He posted the lowest round of his career with a first-round 69. Parker Bruening tied for 40th with a 216. Hayden Moore carded a 231 to finish 88th and Thomas Hereau came in at 100.
Northern Iowa's Tanner Dinnebier earned Individual Medalist honors with a 203 (-10). Idaho's Brae Rogalczyk finished second at 204 (-9).
The Cougars will be back on the course at Arkansas State's Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday.
