Evan McDonald is in his first year on Sean Lyons' staff as the Cougars' volunteer assistant. 

As a player, McDonald was a two-year starter at shortstop for Georgia Southern. He helped the Eagles to back-to-back appearances in the Sunbelt Conference Championship. As a senior, McDonald played in and started 49 games. He hit .256/.356/.298, scoring 23 runs and addding 27 RBIs.
