SIUE baseball Head Coach Tony Stoecklin announced the additionof Major League pitcher Jason Isringhausen to his staff in February2013. Isringhausen, a native of Brighton, Ill., serves as apitching coach for the Cougars.

“He obviously knows the game at the highest level,”Stoecklin said at the time of the announcement. “What hasimpressed me most is his ability to teach what he knows.”

Isringhausen has collected 300 saves in a Major League careerthat has covered 16 seasons. Seven of those years were spent withthe St. Louis Cardinals. He is the Cardinals’ all-time leaderin saves with 217. In 2004, he turned in a career-best 47 saves forSt. Louis, which is a Cardinals single-season record shared by LeeSmith.

The right-handed pitcher also has pitched for the New York Mets,Oakland Athletics, Tampa Bay Rays, and Los Angeles Angels ofAnaheim. He owns a 51-55 record and a 3.64 earned run average forhis Major League career.
