Athletics portraits MBB Holloway, Robert

Rob Holloway

Holloway joined the Cougars' staff after most recently serving as an assistant coach at Triton College outside of Chicago.

At Triton, Holloway assisted Head Coach Brian Burns and Triton to a 29-6 record and a “Sweet Sixteen” appearance in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.

While with the Trojans, Holloway coached four student-athletes who went on to NCAA Division I intuitions highlighted by NJCAA First Team All-American Dayjaun Anderson (Alabama-Birmingham) and All-Region 4 selection Vijay Wallace (Arizona State).

Holloway came to Triton after making various NCAA Division I stops as an assistant coach, including at Incarnate Word in San Antonio for the 2023-24 season.

He previously spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Valparaiso under Matt Lottich, where he was primarily responsible for leading Valpo’s recruiting efforts while also assisting with scouting and game preparation. During the 2021-22 season, Holloway was on staff as Valpo players hauled in seven Missouri Valley Conference postseason honors won by five different players.

The 2020-2021 season, Holloway’s third with the program, saw Valpo earn a first-round bye in the MVC Tournament for the first time since joining the prestigious league.

After helping guide Valpo to 15 victories in his first season on staff, Holloway was part of the 2019-20 team that finished with the program’s highest conference win total, highest overall win total and highest finish in the league standings since joining the Missouri Valley Conference.

Already familiar with the Ohio Valley Conference, Holloway spent two seasons (2016-18) on the coaching staff at Eastern Illinois. While at EIU, he was instrumental in bringing in highly rated recruits Mack Smith and Cam Burrell to the Panthers.

Holloway spent three seasons (2012-15) as the Head Coach at Kennedy-King College in Chicago. During his tenure, the program posted 48 wins and boasted six All-Region performers.

He is a 2005 graduate of Eastern Illinois University and worked in private business for several years before embarking on a career as a basketball coach.
