Jon Boyer is in his fourth season as a member of the SIUE coachingstaff.

Boyer has been an important contributor to SIUE's rise back tonational prominence.  The 2012 season was one to remember forthe Cougars, who completed the campaign with a 13-7-0 record. Over the course of the 2012 season, SIUE was ranked as high as No.22 in the nation in both the national rankings and NCAA RPI, whileadvancing to the MVC title game for the second time in three yearsbefore narrowly falling to No. 8 Creighton 2-1.

In recognition of the program’s success, the SIUE staffwas named the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Coaching Staff of theYear.

Following the season, the Missouri Valley Conference honored anunprecedented total of ten Cougar student-athletes, including fourfirst team All-MVC selections, five second team All-MVC selections,the Goalkeeper of the Year, and one entry on the MVC All-Freshmanteam. Four Cougars were also selected to the MVC Men’sScholar-Athlete team.

National recognition was close to follow, as four Cougars werehonored with selection to the NSCAA All-Midwest Region team (themost in the region), while Christian Volesky was named a Third TeamAll-American by CollegeSportsMadness.com.  Ryan Bauer’saccomplishments both on the field and in the classroom wererecognized with his selection as an NSCAA Scholar All-American,carrying a 3.97 GPA in Physics and playing a key role for theCougars.

Boyer was a four-year letter winner for Fort Lewis in Durango,Colo., where he helped the Skyhawks to a Division II nationalchampionship in 2005 and the national finals in 2006. He earned abachelor's degree in business management from Fort Lewis. An EssexSoccer Academy instructor from 2004 to 2007, Boyer became theAcademy Director from 2007-2010 working along side former Arsenalyouth soccer coach, Andy McDermid.

Boyer, who holds a USSF National "C" Coaching License, also wasthe Director of Coaching for the Laramie Blizzard Soccer Club from2007 to 2010.
