Lauren Zembruski, a member of the 2007 SIUE softball nationalchampionship team, has been named the Director of SoftballOperations, according to Head Coach Sandy Montgomery.
A 2010 graduate of SIUE, Zembruski rejoins the program in whichshe was the starting third baseman for four seasons. She played 216games as a Cougar and finished with a .311 career battingaverage.
Montgomery said Zembruski will be in charge of team travel,recruiting travels, community service projects, and will be theliaison for softball promotions and marketing. She will coordinategame and practice video on game day as well as manage theteam’s clubhouse.
Zembruski will maintain alumni databases and spearhead alumnievents. She also will assist with game contract administration andthe academic progress of softball student-athletes.
As a student-athlete, Zembruski joined SIUE in the fall of 2006 andwas a starting freshman on the Division II national championshipteam. She twice was named to the NCAA Division I All-Independentteam in 2009 and 2010. She also was a two-time National FastpitchCoach Association All-Region third baseman.
Zembruski graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementaryeducation in 2010 and gained softball coaching experience as thehead coach of the Homer Hawks in the fall of 2010. She also hasserved as an assistant coach at Joliet Central High School andMinooka Community High School.
