Valerie McCoy

McCoy rejoined the SIUE softball program as an assistant in January 2014 and continues as a volunteer assistant coach for the Cougars.

A 2015 inductee into the SIUE Athletics Hall of Fame, McCoy played for for SIUE from 1999-2002, earning All-American status as a second baseman in 2001. She also was a three-time All-Region selection by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. McCoy ranks first in program history in games started (228) and is ninth all-time in career batting average (.357).

McCoy served as an assistant coach during the Cougars' NCAA Division II National Championship season in 2007. She has been an assistant with Coach Montgomery for more than a decade, having been a part of SIUE's growth from perennial NCAA Division II powerhouse to consistent NCAA Division I standout.

She is a native of Bethalto, Illinois.
