Jocelyn Duke was named an assistant coach for the SIUE women'sbasketball program in June 2009.
Duke, who most previously was an assistant coach at Lock Haven(Pa.) University, is very familiar with the Midwest as well as theOhio Valley Conference. A native of Louisville, Ky., she played twoseasons of basketball at OVC rival Austin Peay.
She spent three seasons at Lock Haven. She also worked twoseasons as the girls' basketball head coach at Shawnee High Schoolin Louisville. Her hard work and dedication led to Coach of theYear honors at Shawnee.
She was an All-Star Coach at the 2006 Kentucky Battle of theBridges game. Duke has served as a Level III instructor of businesslaw classes on-line and as an instructor for the In-Schoolsuspension program at Shawnee. Duke mentored and monitored studentswho displayed disciplinary problems.
Her coaching career also extends to DuPont High School inLouisville as a freshman girls coach and assistant varsity coach aswell as a junior varsity head coach and assistant varsity coach atJeffersontown (Ky.) High School. Duke's collegiate playing careerbegan at Wabash Valley Community College.
The power forward earned an Associate's degree at Wabash Valleybefore transferring to Austin Peay. At Austin Peay, she earned theExtra Mile Award and honorable mention All-OVC honors as a senior.She helped the Lady Govs to an OVC Championship and an NCAATournament appearance during the 2000-2001 season. She led the OVCin total rebounds that season with 253.
Duke graduated from Austin Peay in 2001 with a bachelor ofscience in psychology. She earned a master of liberal arts degreefrom Lock Haven in 2010.
