Megan Nyquist begins her second season on Amanda Levens' staff as the team manager.Her responsibilities include handling travel plans for the team, managing the recruiting data base and taking care of opposing teams during their visits to SIUE.The Kansas City, Mo., native comes to SIUE after most recently serving as an assistant coach with Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan. She previously served as an assistant coach with Division II Rockhurst University in Kansas City.Nyquist attended the University of Illinois, where she was recruited to play for the Illini. Knee and spinal injuries cut short her collegiate career after just four games. When a herniated disk in her back caused numbness in both legs, Nyquist turned to wheelchair basketball where she won a National Championship with the Illinois Wheelchair Basketball team. She also served as an alternate on the 2008 U.S. Paralympics team.Nyquist was a decorated prep player, starring for Lee's Summit High School outside of Kansas City. She earned All-State Honors from the Missouri Coach's Association as well as the Missouri Sports Writers, after averaging 17 points, 2.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game during her senior season.She resides in Glen Carbon.
