After four seasons competing as a member of the SIUE women's basketball team, Tierny Austin is re-joining the program as a graduate assistant manager, announced Head Coach Paula Buscher.
"We are very excited that Tierny is back with us this season as a graduate assistant manager," said Buscher. "She was a tremendous student-athlete excelling both in the classroom and on the court."
A second team All-Ohio Valley Conference selection following the 2014-15 season, Austin completed her collegiate career ranked in the top 10 in several statistical categories. The list includes scoring (8th/1,280 points), games played (T3rd/116), free throws made (4th/336), free throws attempted (5th/481), rebounds (7th/672), and steals (8th/178)
She scored 43 points in the 2015 OVC Tournament to close out her four seasons at SIUE, including 23 against Austin Peay and 20 against Tennessee State.
"She will be a great asset to our current players as Tierny epitomizes what being an athlete at SIUE is all about with her work ethic, commitment to the program and passion to excel in the classroom," said Buscher.
Austin will be pursuing a master's degree in social work while serving on the Cougar sidelines.
