Celestine Akoro joined SIUE as a Graduate Assistant Academic Advisor in August 2021.
Akoro is well-acquainted with the Ohio Valley Conference, as she is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and a three-time letterwinner with the Redhawks women's basketball program. During her time at SEMO, Akoro served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was actively involved in the Redhawks Rising student organization and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In between excelling on the court and in the classroom, Akoro spent time assisting other student-athletes in their academic pursuits at SEMO's student-athlete academic services center.
Akoro is a member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals and the Multicultural Excellence in College Athletics organization.
Akoro resides in O'Fallon, Illinois.
