The 2012-2013 season marks Jennifer Jakel's seventh at the helmof the women's golf program at SIUE.

Jakel guided the Cougars to their first-ever Division I tournamenttitle in the 2010-11 season as the Cougars bested 12 teams tocapture the title at Northern Illinois' Huskie Classic. It was partof a string of three consecutive tournaments where SIUE finished inthe top two. The Cougars finished second at their home event, theSIUE Intercollegiate, prior to the Huskie Classic. SIUE followed upthe win at Northern Illinois with a second place finish at theWestern Illinois Invitational. Jakel led SIUE to eight top 10finishes during the season.

She also oversaw sophomore Ashton Stair's development as acollegiate player. Stair earned three top five and five top 10finishes to earn a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomerteam.

Jakel was a four-year player from 1998-2002 at Missouri State,helping the Bears to a Missouri Valley Conference title in 2001.The Bears also made their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearanceduring the 2000-2001 season.

Jakel was named as the third head women's golf coach in programhistory prior to the 2006-07 school year. She also is abusiness associate in the Athletics department, handling numerousadministrative duties. She also serves as the department'scommunity service coordinator, chairs the annual golf outingcommittee, handles budget and reconciliation for various camps, andalso oversees transportation for the department's 17 programs.Jakel also is a mentor to at-risk student athletes.

Jakel earned a bachelor of science in business administrationfrom Missouri State in 2002. She received her master's in businessadministration at SIUE in 2006. Jakel is a Highland, Ill., nativeand still resides in Highland.
