The 2013 season marks Kareem Jackson's 13th season in coaching.He became SIUE's head coach in 2009 after spending one season as anassistant coach for the Cougars. Jackson will look to take his teamfar into the postseason at the Ohio Valley Conference Championshipsand the NCAA Division I Championships.

The Cougars have rewritten the school's record book in Jackson'syears at the helm. SIUE student-athletes have broken more than 30records and entered the Top Three All-Time list in nearly everyevent. This past season Darius Smith competed at the U.S. JuniorNationals at 200 meters. Jatavia Wright also qualified for theU.S. Junior Championships in the 100 hurdles.

Thrower Ben Bishop (thrower) qualified for the 2010 U.S. IndoorChampionships, and William Lindsey (hurdles) qualified for theJunior U.S. Championships in both hurdle events.

Under Jackson, the NCAA named the 2009, 2010, and 2011 women'strack and field team to the All-Academic team.

A native of Chicago, Jackson served as an Assistant Coach atThornridge High School for three years before jumping to thecollegiate ranks. Jackson spent the next two years as an assistantat the University of Chicago. He coached sprints, hurdles, andjumps while with the Maroons, and helped guide two athletes toschool records. He also coached numerous University AthleticAssociation conference champions.

In addition to his duties at Chicago, Jackson was the head coachof a USATF track club where he coached 35 All-Americans, twonational champions, and one national record holder.

Jackson served as Assistant Coach at Patriot League affiliateLafayette College in Easton, Penn., for three seasons workingprimarily with the sprints, hurdles, and jumps. There he coached 11Patriot League Champions, eight athletes to school records, 35ICAC/ECAC qualifiers, six NCAA East Regional qualifiers. Onestudent-athlete was a U.S. Junior Nationals qualifier in the100-meter hurdles under Jackson's guidance.

A member of the United States Track Coaches Association, Jacksonholds a Level I coaching certification as well as a Level IIcoaching certification in sprints, hurdles, and jumps. Jacksonreceived a Bachelor of Arts degree in general studies andmathematics from Lewis University in 2002.
