Jake McKiernan returned to the SIUE wrestling program as a graduate assistant coach in August 2022.

A former Michigan state champion at Richmond High School, McKiernan started a legacy project at the heavyweight class for the Cougars. A McKiernan has been in the mix at heavyweight for every season since the 2014-15 season.

McKiernan collected more than 20 wins during the 2015-16 and the 2016-17 season, including 23 with 10 falls during the 2016-17 season. He was ranked in the top 25 nationally in 2016-17 as a heavyweight in the Southern Conference.

He collected 66 victories in an SIUE uniform, completing his collegiate career during the 2019-20 season.

McKiernan earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2019 and is pursuing a master’s in physical education and coaching pedagogy.
