Jake Residori was named a volunteer coach for the Cougars in August 2017.

The Shorewood, Illinois, native cemented himself as the wrestler who “Restored the Glory” for SIUE wrestling after earning All-American honors at the 2017 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in St. Louis. He placed eighth overall and was the only wrestler who competed in a pigtail match to move on to All-American status. Residori knocked off two Big 12 Conference Tournament finalists en route to his All-American status.

Residori made two NCAA Tournament appearances in his collegiate career (2015 and 2017). Both times he won the 174-pound weight class at the Southern Conference Championships.

In four seasons wrestling for the Cougars, Residori recorded 99 wins not including a 21-win season in 2015-16 wrestling unattached.

An All-Southern Conference selection in 2015, he earned the top seed after a 6-1 record in conference action. In 2014, he earned a No. 2 season and was tied for second on the team with three falls. In 2013, Residori placed third at the SoCon Championships.

He is a former 170-pound state champion at Minooka High School. Residori was a three-time state place winner with fourth place as a junior and sixth as a sophomore. He also was an Academic All-State selection in football.
