Rossi Bruno joined the SIUE wrestling coaching staff in August 2016 as an assistant coach.
An All-American at the University of Michigan, Bruno was a four-time NCAA Tournament qualifier for the Wolverines. He collected 76 victories on the mat during his four seasons.
Bruno earned All-American status with an eighth-place finish during the 2014-15 season. He defeated four top 20-ranked wrestlers at the NCAA Championships. In that season, he also took seventh at the Big Ten Championships.
During his senior season, Bruno was selected to compete at the NWCA All-Star Classic. He topped Lehigh’s Mason Beckman 4-1 in overtime. Beckman entered the match ranked No. 3 nationally.
Bruno was a blue-chip recruit for the Wolverines as the first five-time state champion in the state of Florida. He posted a prep career record of 289-3, including undefeated season as an eighth grader, a sophomore and a senior. He was named the 2012 Southeast Region recipient of the Dave Schultz Excellence Award and was a named selection for the 2012 USA Dream Team Classic.
Bruno earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan in biopsychology, cognition, and neuroscience in 2016. His father, Ross, was a collegiate wrestler at Marquette.
