Ty Prazma

SIUE head wrestling coach Jeremy Spates added Ty Prazma to his coaching staff in August 2019. 

Prazma has spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Northern Illinois.

Prior to his stent at NIU, he was an assistant coach at the Virginia Military Institute. During the 2016 SoCon Championships, the Keydets more than doubled their point total from the previous season, with the assistance of Prazma.

Prazma was a standout wrestler for Missouri, where he competed in the 165-pound weight class from 2010-2015. During his career, he accumulated 83 victories and placed 6th at the 2014 Midlands Championship.

In addition to achieving varsity letterman status in his last two seasons, Prazma received multiple academic accolades as well. He was named to the Big 12 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll (2010-2012), the dean’s list, Academic All-MAC team (2014-15), and also was a recipient of the Presidential Award for earning at least a 3.5 GPA in graduate coursework. Prazma was named one of 28 student-athletes at Missouri, to the Three Strips Club in recognition of high performance in academics, athletics, and society.

A native of Granite City, Illinois, Prazma earned his bachelor’s degree in parks, recreation and tourism with a focus in sports management from Missouri in 2014. He earned his master’s in educational and counseling psychology with an emphasis in positive coaching also from Missouri in the summer of 2015.
